Ero from the Other World

The composer Jakov Gotovac conceived it as a ballet performance for the final part of the opera “Ero s’onoga svijeta”. The dance is typical for the Adriatic coast area, where the moves of the dancers wearing the stylized costumes describe the strength and stamina of men, as well as the feminine grace of women.
It lasts 8 minutes.

Dances of the Bunjevac ethnic group

The rhythmical, proud and lively dance is typical of the northern part of Serbia and the southern parts of today's Hungary. It is special because of the richly ornamented festive costume made of special silk and because of the rattles on the boots of the male dancers.
It lasts 6 minutes.  

Vlas dances

In this dance there are motifs from the eastern Serbia, inhabited by Vlasi, the people who believe in ghosts. Since they were cattle breeders they learnt how to perform different shepherd's skills. The characteristic move is step, but also the loud stamping of the feet. They are wearing fur hats made of long sheep wool.
It lasts 5 minutes.

Dances from Sumadia

The central Serbia is the heart of Serbian folk dances. This is the dance which has historic significance, the dancers are singing and the steps are lively. The costume is priceless, especially “šiljkani” (the traditional footwear with the front part curved upward) as well as the shirts and aprons embroidered with flower motifs.
It lasts 6 minutes.

Sop dances

This is a very dynamic, masculine dance from the southeastern Serbia, containing mixed Serbian and Bulgarian steps with the dancers constantly shouting: "kosi, kopaj, drž' se zemljo sop te gazi..”.
It lasts 2 minutes.


Lively and joyful dance called "lindjo" is danced in the south Adriatic area, around Dubrovnik. A player on a "ljerici", a stringed instrument similar to fiddle, and a shouter, a dancer who gives witty commands to the other dancers during the dance, accompany the dancers.
It lasts 5 minutes.

Dances from Macedonia

The choreographies are fully rhythmical with colorful ornamented costumes and specific dancing elements. Male dancers are recognizable by the virtuoso moves of the solo players at the traditional Macedonian instrument tapan and female dances by the beautiful songs.
It lasts 12 minutes.

Dances from Vranje

The dance from the southern Serbia is recognizable by the ornamented style and dominating captivating girl’s and bey’s dignified dance in the first and lively cocek dance with the spectacular ending, when a gypsy girls stands on the goc, in the second part.
It lasts 9 minutes.

Singing group

Beside dance and music, our nation has very rich art of singing, too. Since always, boys and girls have been competing in singing and, because of that,” voice singing” is recognizable characteristic of Serbian tradition.

National song ensemble

Serbian national dances are mostly based on the join of steps and music and, in that way, they show a part on the national expression through folklore. That’s why our presentation also implicates variety of music.
